Franklin “Buck” Boland Franklin “Buck” Boland of Minnith died Friday, Feb. 5, 2010 at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis. He was 74. He was born in Ste. Genevieve County on March 20, 1935, the son of the late Anderson Clay Boland and Virgie V. (Kennon) Boland of St. Mary, who survives. He was married to Evelyn Rayoum, who preceded him in death on Dec. 12, 1990. He was then married on June 7, 1992 to Betty Petty of Minnith, who survives. Other survivors include four sons, Franklin Boland Jr. of St. Mary; Thomas (Karen) Boland of Minnith; Dale (Alice) Boland of Perryville; Jeff (Paula) Boland of St. Mary; Bradley (Stephanie) Boland of St. Mary; one daughter, Lisa (George) Kramer of Perryville; 12 brothers and sisters, Vernetta (Francis) Shuh of St. Mary; Deric (Margie) Boland of St. Mary; Larry (Sandy) Boland of St. Mary; Wayne (Debbie) Boland of Perryville; Robert (Lauren) Boland of Fredericktown; June (Edward) Geiler of Ste. Genevieve; Jean (Alfred) Vogt of St. Mary; Linda (Herb) Johnson of St. Mary; Gail (Cecil) Pittman of Perryville; Kathy Pittman of Perryville; Vickie (Felix) Winston of Anniston, Ala. and Patsy Bowen of Perryville; 16 grandchildren, Craig, Tyler, Renee, Tiffany, Emily, Thomas, Christopher, Cody, Jennifer, Michael, Pamela, Damien, Brandon, Colte, Cameron and Brianna and nine great-grandchildren, Cierra, Jake, Jace, Drew, Deandra, Abigale, Jason, Koby and Diandra. Mr. Boland had been a farmer and member of Brushy Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his father. Memorials are preferred to the family or charity of choice. Eugene “Gene” Petzoldt Eugene “Gene” Petzoldt of MO Veterans Home in Cape Girardeau, formerly of Altenburg, died at the Veterans Home on Saturday, Feb. 6, 2010. He was 79. He was born in Altenburg on June 29, 1930, the son of the late Henry Otto and Hedewege “Hattie” (Niederstadt) Petzoldt. He was married on April 19, 1956 to Eleanor Kaufman, who preceded him in death on June 30, 1989. Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, David and Su Petzoldt of Niceville, Fla. and Mark and Amy Petzoldt of Altenburg; four sisters, Henrietta Conners of Vermont; Myra Bunn and Pauline Thurm, both of Orlando, Fla.; Kathryn Werner of Jackson; and one granddaughter, Whitney Petzoldt. Mr. Petzoldt was a United States Army Veteran of the Korean Conflict. He had been a dairy farmer for 43 years. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Altenburg, VFW Post 4282, and American Legion Post 133. He was preceded in death by his parents and wife. Memorials are preferred to Immanuel Lutheran Church in Altenburg. Edward Dale Prost Sr. Edward Dale Prost Sr. of Perryville died Saturday, Feb. 6, 2010 at Independence Care Center of Perry County. He was 87. He was born in Perryville on Dec. 14, 1922, the son of the late Edward William and Hilda Alma (Unverferth) Prost. He was married 62 years ago on May 3, 1947 to Irene Catherine Hennemann, who survives in Perryville. Other survivors include three daughters and two sons, Mary Susan and Nicholas Tibbs of Fruitland; Laura and Floyd Wahler of Perryville; Jeanette and Allen Buchheit of Cape Girardeau; William and Bonnie Prost of Perryville; and Edward D. and Paula Prost Jr. of Omaha, Neb. and 14 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. Mr. Prost was a United States Army Air Corp Veteran of World War II. He was a retired aircraft supervisor at Rockwell International and a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, Holy Name Society, Knights of Columbus 3rd Degree Council 1263, and American Legion Post 133. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Adrian, Linus and Lee Prost; three sisters, Catherine Brewer, Vivian Zoellner and Aurelia Wood and one grandson, Scott Nuyt. Memorials are preferred to St. Vincent School or Birthright. She was born April 1, 1921 at Apple Creek, the daughter of the late Henry and Theresia (Baer) Buchheit. She was married on Oct. 18, 1941 to Gilbert Buerck, who preceded her in death on Jan. 9, 1989. Survivors include three daughters, Carole (K. Frank) Storf, Nancy (Tom) Pleimann and Susan (Rich) Duerst; two brothers, Ed Buchheit of Jackson and Urban Buchheit of St. Louis; two sisters, Jean Zoellner and Mary Ann Rellergert of Perryville; nine grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. The funeral service was held Dec. 30, 2009. Entombment was at Saints Peter and Paul Mausoleum.

Stark, Conner E. Stark, Angela M. Sauer, Matthew A. Stark, Kristi L. Boles, Julie A. Hoffman and Cory G. Hoffman and three great-grandchildren, Haley DuBois, Ryder Boles and Peyton Boles. Mrs. Stark had been an insurance sales representive supervisor for Royal Neighbors of America Insurance Co. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Perryville Country Club and Ladies Golf Association, co-organizer of PCC Ladies Golf Association, an avid golfer, past Girl and Boy Scout leader and American Legion Post 133 Ladies Auxiliary. Everett Kiefer Everett Kiefer of Perryville died Monday, Feb. 1, 2010 at his home, surrounded by his loved ones. He was 90. He was born June 3, 1919 in Perry County, the son of the late Herman and Bernice (Zahner) Kiefer. He was married on Jan. 1, 1940 in Perryville to Lula (Brotherton) Kiefer, who preceded him in death on Feb. 12, 2002. Survivors include one son, Robert “Bob” Kiefer of St. Ann; three grandchildren, Sherry (Jerry) Mullins of St. Charles; Bobby Kiefer Jr. of St. Ann and Judith (Russell) Childrers of Overland; nine great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren and a very, very special friend Billie Balsman. Mr. Kiefer was a World War II Army Veteran, serving in the 69th Infantry Division. During his service he was awarded three Bronze Stars and a Purple Heart. He worked and retired from International Shoe Company, as well as being a farmer all of his life. He was a very hard worker and he loved to work. He was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church and a member of the American Legion. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; daughter-in-law June Kiefer; six sisters and five brothers. Memorials are preferred to the American Cancer Society. She was married at Apple Creek on Nov. 25, 1937 to Leander Buchheit, who preceded her in death. Survivors include one son, Ken Buchheit of Marquand; one daughter, Eileen Christian of St. Louis; one sister, Petty Menderski of St. Louis; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, four brothers and six sisters. Mrs. Buchheit was a store clerk for Appleton Mercantile Co. for 30 years. Elmer L. Donze Elmer L. Donze of Ste. Genevieve died Sunday, Jan. 24, 2010 at his residence. He was 93. He was born Saturday, Oct. 28, 1916 in Ste. Geneveive, the son of the late Lawrence W. and Elizabeth M. (Huck) Donze. He was married on June 19, 1950 to Betty Jane (Schwent) Donze of Ste. Genevieve, who survives. Other survivors include one son, Elmo L. (Anne) Donze of Perryville; one daughter, Dorcas E. (Carl) Grass of Ste. Genevieve; one sister, Aileen (Ralph “Dude”) Portell of Ste. Genevieve; five grandchildren, Jack and Joy Donze, Alexandra, A.J. and Carl Grass; one great-grandchild, Andrew Schilly; two sisters-in-law, Yvonne (Clarence) Basler of Ste. Genevieve and Betty Lou Donze of Edgewater, Fla. Mr. Donze was a pilot on the United States Air Force during World War II. He was a member of the Foundation for Restoration, American Legion Post 150, Knights of Columbus Council 1037, 4th Degree Assembly, all of Ste. Genevieve; Missouri Broadcasters Association and National Broadcasters Association and he served as an honorary colonel for Gov. Blair and for both terms for Gov. Warren Hearnes. He owned KSGM Radio from 1947 to 1967 and he was owner of Background Music. Elmer brought cable television to Ste. Genevieve; had the Elmo Donze Orchestra, owned Hilltop Club; Hilltop Drive-in Theatre; original owner of the Perryville Monitor; Donze Cut Rate; Donze’s Jewelry; Donze Appliance; Donze Insurance Agency; member of the Missouri Illinois Bridge Commission; instrumental in bringing bus service to Ste. Genevieve and the development of Pere Marquette Park; received the lifetime award from the Ste. Genevieve Chamber of Commerce in 2007. Memorials can be made to HospiceCare, Inc. or Church of Ste. She then married Vernis L. Stout, who preceded her in death Nov. 21, 2005. Survivors include two sons, Michael Heaps of Pevely and Patrick Heaps of Perryville; two daughters, Charlotte Jones of Hillsboro and Pamela Dillow of Barnhart; one stepson, David Stout of St. Louis; three sisters, Ada Winkler of Hillsboro; Lenore Porter of St. Charles and Patsy Gentry of Bellview, Neb.; two brothers, Leeman Head of Perryville and Victor Head of Farmington; 12 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; 15 great-great-grandchildren and one great-great-great-grandchild. (Geraldine) Keeble of Old Appleton; one daughter, Debra Ann (James) Welker of Perryville; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and special friend, Dixie Carr. Mr. Keeble was an World War II Navy Veteran. He worked in construction. He was a member of the American Legion, life member of the VFW and was also a Mason. He was a member of Our Lady of Victory Parish in Sereno. He was preceded in death by his wife and two sisters. Memorials are preferred to AmHeart Hospice. Jeanette (Jan) Marie Schamburg Jeanette (Jan) Marie Schamburg died Wednesday, Jan. 20, 2010 at Heritage Manor in Normal, Ill. She was 82. She was born Sept. 17, 1927 in Perryville, the daughter of the late John and Lela Rabe Diefenbach. Jeanette grew up in the small Missouri community of Perryville. She married Wilbert (Bill) Schamburg on June 14, 1947. They moved to Bloomington in 1957. She loved returning to Perryville to visit family and friends throughout her life. She cherished the special trips back with her children and grandchildren. Survivors include one daughter, Patricia and son-in-law Kevin Kinsella; one son-in-law, Thomas Boitnott; her much loved grandchildren, John Boitnott (Heather Stephens), Colleen (Jarrod) Longbons, Katie Kinsella and Kellie Kinsella, and great-grandsons, Logan Boitnott and Tristin Stephens. Jeanette worked at the Pantagraph and volunteered at the Bloomington Public Library. She served on the board of The Friends of the Library Board where she enjoyed helping conduct their annual book sales. Jan’s church life was important to her and she was involved in the altar guild and volunteered at the Trinity Lutheran Church office over the years. She also enjoyed playing bridge and played with the same club for most of her adult life. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bill in 1978; daughter Pamela in 2002; and her twin sister Jean in 2005. He was born Oct. 8, 1925 in Whitewater, the son of the late John Thomas and Sarah Jane (Eddleman) Winkler. He was married on July 27, 1946 to Alice Aleen Hendrix, who preceded him in death on Aug. 27, 2008. Survivors include two daughters, Donna Shadron and JoAnn Overbey, both of Perryville; one son, Del Winkler of Perryville; one sister, Ila Niswonger of Jackson; eight grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildern and six great-great-grandchildren. Mr. Peterson was a veteran of the National Guard for 22 years. He was born Nov. 12, 1924 in Carlinville, Ill., the son of the late Paul and Rose (Leritz) Rosentreter. He was married on Oct. 23, 1947 to Evelyn Burger, who preceded him in death Nov. 7, 1958. He then married Evelyn Boente on May 28, 1960, who preceded him in death on March 2, 1995. Survivors include three daughters and two sons, Dr. Kathie (Dr. John) Wuellner of Alton, Ill.; Kris (Theresa) Rosentreter of Carlinville, Ill.; Stephen “Rosie” (Cindy) Rosentreter of Carrollton, Ill.; Suzanne (Kris) Lister of Memphis; and Mary (Keith) Winkler of Perryville; 11 grandchildren, Colleen (Jesse) Stuckey of Bozeman, Mont.; Shasta Rosentreter of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; Paul and Ann Rosentreter of Carlinville, Ill.; Second Lt. J.C. Wuellner of Bethesda, Md.; Karen Rosentreter of Franklin, Ill.; Joel Rosentreter of Carrollton, Ill.; Kyle and Kelly Lister of Memphis; and Kayla and Jenna Winkler of Perryville; one brother-in-law, three sisters-in-law and several nieces and nephews. Harold grew up on a dairy farm in Carlinville, Ill. He was a Technical Sergeant in the United States Army in Japan during World War II. After the war he owned and operated Carrollton Beverage Company with a Pepsi franchise in Carrollton for 45 years, retiring in 1991. He was a member of St. John’s Catholic Church, served on the board of directors at Cornerstone Bank for 20 years, and a long-time and was honorary member of the Greene County Fair Board, all in Carrollton. He was also a lifetime member of the Carrollton Lions Club, American Legion, and a Fourth Degree member of the Knights of Columbus. After retiring he became an avid collector of Pepsi memorabilia and was an active member of the Ozark Mountain Pepsi Collector’s Club. He was preceded in death by his parents, two wives, three brothers, three sisters, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews. He was then married on May 14, 1966 to Cecilia “Mae” Moore L’Hote, who preceded him in death on April 16, 2007. James J. Lawrence James J. Lawrence of St. Louis died Thursday, Dec. 31, 2009 at his daughter’s home in Perryville after a lengthy illness. He was 69. He was born July 31, 1940 in St. Mary, the son of the late Harry and Mildred (Gendron) Lawrence. He was married on Sept. 22, 1967 to Doris (Brant) Lawrence of Perryville, who survives. Other survivors include one daughter, Jamia (Bob) Goldsmith of Perryville; two grandsons, Joey Goldsmith and Christian Lawrence; and one sister, Norma Layton of St. Mary. Mr. Lawrence was an Navy Veteran for four years. He was a police officer for 24 years with St. Louis City Police Department, retiring in 1988. He then worked for St. Louis City Sheriff’s Department and Federal Government National Special Police, retiring in 2002. He was a hunter and fisherman and his greatest joy was his grandsons. He was preceded in death by his parents; stepfather, Garva Carney; two daughters, Terra and Kristina and one sister, Mary Blandford. Madison E. Willis Madison E. Willis of Perryville died Friday, Jan. 1, 2010 at his home after a long battle with cancer. He was 61. Madison was born Sept. 8, 1948 in Dyess, Ark., the son of the late Gene and Margaret Willis. He graduated as salutatorian of his senior class of Marked Tree High School. After shortly attending Arkansas State University he accepted a management position with the Sterling Store Co. in Batesville, Ark. After marrying Frances L. Ford of Marked Tree, Ark., he and his family traveled throughout Arkansas and Missouri while he managed several Sterling stores before finally settling in Perryville in 1976. He was manager of the Sterling store from 1976 until it closed in 1982. He then took a management position with Walmart of Chester, Ill. He briefly transferred to Texas as manager for Walmart before he became the manager of Pic-Pac Grocery of Perryville. He then managed IGA Grocery in Perryville from 1990 until he purchased the Plaza Lounge in Perryville in 2000. He is survived by his wife, Fran; two daughters, Paula and husband Keith Overbey; Cindy Willis and fiancee Steve Mungle; three grandchildren, Jarred Hargrove, Joshua Hargrove and Sonnie Willis; three step-grandchildren, Keith Ryan Overbey, Jacob Overbey and Nick Spitler, all of Perryville; four sisters, Mary Ann (Billy) McIntare of Tyronza, Ark.; Janis Lawrence of Lepanto, Ark.; Gail (Steve) Cockrell of Lepanto, Ark.; and Sharon (Wayne) Gotto of Perryville; three brothers, William (Teresa) Willis of Payneway, Ark.; David (Pam) Willis of Trumann, Ark. and Eddie Willis of Jackson. Armin Reinhold Koenig Armin Reinhold Koenig of Farrar was called home to be with his Lord on Sunday, Dec. 27, 2009 at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau. He was 76. He was born in Farrar on Nov. 6, 1933, the son of the late Reinhold Traugott and Marie Ella Hedwig (Luehrs) Koenig. He was baptized into the Christian faith on Nov. 19, 1933, at Salem Lutheran Church in Farrar by Rev. R.A. Rook. He made public profession of this faith in Jesus at his Confirmation on March 30, 1947 at Salem Lutheran Church in Farrar. He was confirmed by Rev. W.F. Dommer. He was joined in Holy Marriage to Verna Irma Wallman on April 2, 1961 at Zion Lutheran Church in Pocahontas by the Rev. Walter Wesche. The Lord blessed their union with one child. Armin is survived by his wife, Verna Koenig of Farrar; one daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Tim Dreyer of Farrar; two grandchildren, Katelin and Madison Dreyer of Farrar; one sister, Doris Gihring of New Wells; one brother, Elmer (Donna) Koenig of Jackson; two sisters-in-law, Mildred (Floyd) Hoffman of New Wells and Delores Wallman of Jackson; and many nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Armin was a lifelong farmer who loved his family and caring for the land and animals. He was also a custodian for nine years at Perry County School District 32. Mr. Koenig was an World War II Army Veteran. He served as a sergeant and he received two bronze stars during World War II. He retired as a truck driver for Thilenius Distributing. He then worked for Bening Automotive Group for 22 years. He was a member of the Perryville Elks, VFW, American Legion, AMVETS and he was Knights of Columbus booster. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church. He was preceded in death by his parens, one brother and one sister. All services are private. Survivors include two sons, Keith Besand of Perryville and Dennis (Janet White) Besand of Oak Ridge; five daughters, Ann Marie (Marty) Kelly of Tampa, Fla.; Kathy (Mike) Lowes of Cuba; Elaine Winschel of Apple Creek; Margie (Richard) Kramer Sr. of Perryville and Mary (Darren) Neader of Jackson; three sisters, Velma (Lloyd) Wingerter and Nina Wilson, both of Perryville; and Iva (Bob) Pulis of Pekin, Ill.; 23 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Besand worked in the Obstetrics Department at Perry County Memorial Hospital as a nursing assistant. She was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church and Perry County Historical Society. She was a life member of the VFW Auxiliary in which she had been a past secretary. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one sister and one great-granddaughter. He was born May 27, 1920 in rural Jackson County, Ill., the son of the late Snider and Clara (Bunselmeyer) Downen. He was married on July 27, 1941 in Chester, Ill. to Ola M. Hamilton, who preceded him in death on Nov. 15, 2000. He was married on Dec. 29, 2002 in Rockwood, Ill. to Norma (Clendenin) Moake, who survives. They resided in Chester until moving to Perry County Assisted Living in Perryville. Other survivors include three children, Thomas G. (Barbara) Downen of Jackson, Tenn.; John R. (Helen) Downen of Springfield, Oregon and Peggy (Bill) Arnett of Quail Valley, Calif.; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife; one son, James Downen; identical twin, Glenn H. Downen; and brother Raymond Downen; and one sister, Velma Schroeder. George was an Army Veteran of World War II. He was a retired postal carrier for the United States Postal Service and an aircraft mechanic. He was a member of Ebenezer Presbyterian Church in Rockwood, Ill. After moving to Perryville he attended the First Presbyterian Church. She was born in Glenwood on June 7, 1921, the daughter of the late Henry and Ida (Johnson) Whitlow. She was married on April 20, 1964 to Merle E. Easley, who preceded her in death on Dec. 7, 2002. Survivors include two sons, Dan (JoAnn) White of Glen Carbon, Ill. and Dr. Ken (Ann) White of Perryville; stepson, Carl Easley of Florida; four grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Willa (Ken) Williams of Bloomsdale and Pauline White of Kirksville; and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Easley has been a member of the Baptist Church since childhood. However she has attended the First Presbyterian Church since moving to Perryville in 2004. Opal loved flowers and gardening; her green thumb produced hundreds of beautiful flowers each year. Her summer vegetable garden provided plenty of fresh food for herself and friends and neighbors. Opal’s roommate has a cat named Sunny and they had lots of conversations each day. Opal’s career has covered lots of areas, owning/managing restaurants, being a farm wife, working in a factory, managing married student housing at Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine. Her most favorite “job” was playing with her great-grandchildren! She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Vernica Timm and Marjorie Hurlbut; brothers, Lee Whitlow, Louie Whitlow, Henry Whitlow, Jr., and John Whitlow. Richard (Dick) Henry Eggers Richard (Dick) Henry Eggers of Florissant, age 68, was born March 12, 1941 in Farrar, the son of Judge Walter and Lydia (Verseman) Eggers. Asleep in Jesus November 24, 2009 after a courageous fight with esophageal cancer. He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Peggy (Garrett) Eggers; daughter, Kelly Lama (Nunzio) and granddaughters, Nicola and Briana Lama of Collinsville, Ill. Sister to Martha (Clint) Haertling of Perryville; brother to Calvin (Alma) Eggers of Pittsburgh, Pa.; Fred Eggers of Farrar; and Carl (Brenda) Eggers of Perryville. Uncle, cousin and friend to many. He was baptized and confirmed at Salem Lutheran Church in Farrar and attended grade school there. He graduated from Perryville High School in 1959 and Valparaiso University in 1963. Dick was a dedicated employee as an engineer at McDonnell Douglas and Boeing for more than 45 years. He served with distinction in the United States Army from 1966 to 1968. He was awarded a Bronze star for meritorious service with the Army Engineer Command in Vietnam. A devoted member of Chapel of the Cross Lutheran in St. Louis County, he served faithfully for 30 years as head usher and on the finance committee. Robert A. (Bob) Fiehler Robert A. (Bob) Fiehler, 83, was taken home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, Nov. 10, 2009. He was born Jan. 14, 1926, in Altenburg, the son of the late Joseph and Ida (Meyr) Fiehler. He was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church where he worshiped his entire life. Robert attended Trinity Lutheran School in Altenburg, two years of high school in Altenburg and graduated from Perryville High School. At the age of 18, he was drafted into the US Army. He proudly served his country in the 774th Tank Battalion, Company C, where he fought in the Battle of the Bulge. He also served as an interpreter during the occupation of Germany. During his military service he received a Purple Heart and three Battle Stars. After his military service, Bob attended Rankin Technical School in St. Louis where he studied body and fender repair. He became co-owner of Altenburg Garage and worked there for over 50 years. Bob married Lillian Schilling on June 18, 1950. This marriage was blessed with five children, Gerard Fiehler of Altenburg; Susan Fiehler of St. Louis; Carla (Kent) Grebing of Houston, Texas; Ellen (John) Linxwiler of St. Louis and Timothy Fiehler of St. Louis. He is also survived by five grandchildren, Jacob and Nick Fiehler, Alison (Grebing) Funke, Barrett Grebing and Ben Linxwiler; two great-grandchildren, Jack and Faith Funke; one sister, Norma Kellerhals of St. Louis, and numerous other family and friends. Robert was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Mildred Palisch, and one grandson, Wade Fiehler. Throughout his life Bob was a gifted storyteller and historian. He was a charter member of the East Perry County Lion’s Club where he remained active for over 50 years. Additional interests included the Trinity Choral Society, various church offices, docent at the Lutheran Heritage Center and Museum in Altenburg, fishing, gardening, metal detecting and traveling the backroads of East Perry County. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Trinity Lutheran Church Restoration Fund, The Emmaus Homes, or the Lutheran Heritage Center and Museum. The funeral service was held Saturday, Nov. 14 at Concordia Lutheran Church in Frohna with Rev. Steven Dressler officiating. She was born in Point Rest on Oct. 13, 1918, the daughter of the late Theodore Herbert and Esther Ella (Rodewald) Katt. She was married on April 29, 1945 to Siegmund Vogel, who preceded her in death on July 14, 1995. Survivors include one daughter, Janet O. Vogel; two brothers and two sisters, Beauford Katt of Columbia; Raymond Katt of Racine, Wis.; Viola Ann Peterson of Chester, Ill. and Euline Elsmayer of St. Louis. Mrs. Vogel was an employee of Department of Defense during World War II in the area of the production of ammunition and later became supervisor. She was a head floor machinist at Wagner Electric and worked at McQuarris. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Chancel Guild, Immanuel Lutheran Choir, Bereans Bible Class, and a farmer’s wife. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and three brothers, Melvin, Victor and Oliver Katt. Dennis Doza Dennis Doza of Perryville died Monday, Oct. 26, 2009 with his family by his side after a five-year long battle with lymphoma. He was 68. He was born on Dec. 14, 1940 on Kaskaskia Island, the son of Travers and Lorraine Doza, who survive. He grew up on the island with his sister, Dorothy and uncle, Larry Wilson. He attended school there, high school in Chester, Ill. and college at Columbia University and SIU. On Aug. 27, 1960 he married Nancy (Gremaud) Doza, who survives. Together they farmed and built a business for outdoorsmen. They also raised four kids, Denise, Chris, Ann and Eric and nurtured 10 grandkids. Denny was an avid outdoorsman. In general he loved to be outside either duck hunting, fishing or just enjoying the day from the porch swing. Trips to Canada to fish for northern pike and walleye were a passion. His greatest joy was the time he spent teaching his grandkids to play rummy, bait hooks, train dogs, tend to the cows, drive a car or tractor on the farm and listening to them play piano. Other survivors include one son, Eric (Renee) Doza of St. Mary; two daughters, Denise (Ed) Martin of Helena, Mont. and Ann (Mark) Winkler of Cape Girardeau; one sister, Dorothy Kertz of Ste. Genevieve; 10 grandchildren, Danielle Brown, Jonathan Bremer, Greg Winkler, Kesley Martin, Will Elledge, Makenzie Winkler, Alexis Doza, Gregory Martin, Peyton Doza and Quinton Doza; several nieces and nephews, many good friends and family. He may have only been one person in the world, but he meant the world to us. He was preceded in death by one son, Chris Doza. Ronnie as a young man played football and baseball back in the day when “men were men and women were darn glad of it.” Then off to serve 6 years in the United States Air Force. He returned back home and married the love of his life, Helen Clifton. He raised a family, worked 19 years and retired from Sabreliner Corp. Ronnie enjoyed his home life, family and grandkids. He never lost hope in those St. Louis Cardinals. He was preceded in death by his parents. The funeral Mass was held Monday, Oct. 18 at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Perryville with Rev. Brown, who preceded her in death on Sept. 3, 1992. Survivors include one son, Kenneth Brown of Perryville; two daughters, Evelyn Crabtree of St. Louis and Katherine First of Perryville; 15 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Mrs. Brown was a homemaker. She was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church and the Ladies Sodality. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers, one sister and one daughter. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 21 at Miller Family Funeral Home in Perryville. She was born July 14, 1930 in Correll, Minn., the daughter of the late John and Helma (Hauge) Krogsrud. She was united in marriage on Sept. 21, 1950 at Grace Lutheran Church in Corell to Edward “Butch” Thole, who preceded her in death. Survivors include her six children, Edward Jr. and wife Laurie of Big Stone City, SD; Richard and wife Samm of Perryville; Kathy and husband Tom Graham of Odessa, Minn.; Greg and wife Kay of Madison, Minn.; Julie and husband Brad Thymian of Ortonville, Minn. and David and wife Becky of Fergus Falls, Minn.; one sister, Lorraine Hagevik of Ortonville, Minn.; one brother, Robert Krogsrud and wife Angie of Appleton, Minn.; 20 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. Elfern was baptized and confirmed at Grace Lutheran Church, Correll. She attended elementary school in Correll, Minn. and graduated from Odessa High School in 1948. Elfern and Butch raised their family and made their home in Odessa, Minn. Through the years, Butch and Elfern owned and operated several businesses in Odessa including Tholes Grocery and the B & B Bar. They were always proud to call Odessa their home. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Odessa and was an active member of the Ladies Aid until her health declined in 2003. She enjoyed traveling with her husband, gardening, playing cards, having coffee with the ladies at the Mudhen, and the company of good friends. Elfern was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother and was especially proud of her children and grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Preceding her in death were her husband, Edward "Butch' Thole; parents, John and Helma Krogsrud; brother, John Krogsrud, Jr. and great-granddaughter, Ava Graham. He was a former member of the Davenport Moose Lodge, Donahue American Legion and the Rose Club at Vander Veer Park. He enjoyed woodworking, fishing and meeting friends for coffee. His greatest joy was his family, especially his grandchildren. Wendell never knew a stranger and will be remembered as a friend to everyone he knew. He was born Aug. 25, 1916 in New York City, NY, the son of the late Irving and Alice (Street) Baxter. Survivors include five sisters, Mary Duffy of San Francisco, Calif.; Kathleen Disanza of Swan Lake, NY; Irene Bianco of Newton, NJ; Helen Gannon of Lodi, NJ and Eleanor Scaparo of Laguna Hills, Calif. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother. Brother Baxter was an World War II Veteran serving in the Parachute Airborne Infantry. He entered the Novitiate of St. Mary’s of the Barrens in Perryville on Dec. 8, 1948. He professed vows at St. Mary’s of the Barrens in Perryville on Dec. 8, 1950. His assignments included St. Mary’s of the Barrens Seminary and Vincentian House Studies, Washington, DC. Mr. Kiefer served in the National Guard. He was the owner/operator of Kiefer Building Supply in Perryville. He was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church and American Legion Post # 133 and he was a local musician, playing music with several groups in the area for many years. She was then married on Jan. 18, 1986 to Gilbert Hager of Perryville, who preceded her in death on Oct. 26, 1992. She was married on Oct. 2, 1954 to Roy Glennon Hudson at the Assumption Church in Perryville, whom she met in St. Louis. He originated from Brewer in Perry County. Survivors include one son and two daughters, Consuela L. Friedhoff of Florissant; Roy G. Hudson, Jr. of Reston, Va.; and Carmelita Hudson-Kane M.D. of St. Louis; two brothers, John J. (Glenda) Schumer of Perry County and James O. (Joann) Schumer of Columbia; Aunt Irma Sissin of St. Louis; six grandchildren, Nicholas Friedhoff and Thomas M. Friedhoff, Jr. of Maryland Heights; Katherine (Friedhoff) Ehman of Hazelwood; Andrew M. Friedhoff of St. Charles; Joseph M. and Roy Vincent Kane of St. Louis; and one great-grandchild, Caleb J. Ehman. Mrs. Hudson graduated from St. Vincent High School in 1952, she worked at A.S. Aloe Hospital Supplies, Western Textile and was then blessed with being a stay at home mom and then worked as a Mary Kay Motel desk clerk after the last child went to college. She very much enjoyed the travel and friendship found all over the country with the genealogy meeting and research. She returned to Perryville in April 1995. It made her week when she was able to go to adoration and had the privilege of working at the local pantry and thrift shop. She was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, Ladies Charity, American Legion Auxiliary, Perry County Memorial Hospital Volunteers Auxiliary, life member of Perry County Historical Society, past officer and life member of Hudson Family Association, member of the Perry Park Center and Chapel Adoration Group that began August 15, 2005. In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to St. Vincent de Paul Catholic School. The body was given to St. Louis University School of Medicine. A Memorial Mass will be held at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church on Saturday, Sept. 19 at 11 a.m. with Rev. Joseph Williams officiating. She was born on July 28, 1932 in Perryville, the daughter of the late Edward and Stella (Bass) Brewer. She was married on May 5, 1951 to Robert G. Uding of Ste. Genevieve, who survives. Other survivors include four sons, Bill (Teresa Vaughn) Uding of Denver, Colo.; Chip (Felice) Uding of Bloomsdale; Joe (Donna) Uding of Ste. Genevieve and Dave (fiancé Patty) Uding of St. Louis; five daughters, Mary Allen (Richard) Rebecchi of Framingham, Mass.; Pat Uding of Flagstaff, Ariz.; Betty (husband John Harris) Uding of Seattle, Wash.; Susie Uding (Jon) Ennis of Colorado Springs, Colo.; and Vicky (Wayne) Uhrich of Ste. Genevieve; two brothers, Albert (Helen) J. Brewer of St. Mary and Dennis C. Brewer of Perryville; two sisters, Sr. Helen Brewer of Austin, Texas and Victoria Elliott of Metropolis, Ill.; 18 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Dot and Bob made their home in Ste. Genevieve where they raised nine children. When they retired in 1983 they moved moved to Homosassa Springs, Fla. where she took up oil painting under the instruction of Epie Boatright and later Edna Radford. In 1995 and 1996 Dot attended oil painting workshops in Taos, N.M. under the guidance of George Burrows, who was the first instructor to teach Dot how to paint on location. After George died in 1997, Dot continued outdoor painting with Albert Handel, also in Taos, N.M. as well as several prominent artists in Fredericksburg, Texas. One of Dot’s paintings was accepted to a national juried competition. For many years Dot and Bob traveled extensively, especially in the United States visiting their children, enjoying art galleries, and seeking locations to paint. In 2005 Dot was diagnosed with a rare movement disorder, Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (PSP), and in 2007 they relocated back to Ste. Genevieve to be closer to family and friends. He was born July 9, 1932 at Menfro, the son of the late Rudolph and Bertha (Baer) Buerck. He was married on Oct. 20, 1956 to Nelda Buchheit of Perryville, who survives. He was married in Cape Girardeau on Oct. 13, 1946 to Helen (Foeste) McDaniel, who preceded him in death on Sept. 7, 2005. Survivors include one daughter, Joanna (“Skip”) Lottes of Perryville; one granddaughter, Karen (John) Lundy of Perryville; one grandson, Steven Lottes of Columbia; four great-grandchildren, Lezlie Lundy, Megan Lundy, Sydney Lottes and Annie Lottes. He was preceded in death by his wife Helen, parents Martin and Rosa Sewing, and one sister Velva Kochs. Earl was baptized and confirmed in the Trinity Lutheran Church in Friedheim. He graduated from Perryville High School in 1940. He was active in civic and service organizations and church. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Perryville and served on many committees. Earl was a member of the Perryville Optimist Club. He served as President in 1966-67 and again in 1977-78 and also served as Lt. Governor of Missouri Optimist in 1968-69 and again in 1977-78. He received the International Presidential award of excellence and Honor Club. He was also an American Legion Booster. He worked in dry cleaning shops in Cape Girardeau before he and Helen purchased the Perryville Cleaners in 1957, which they operated until 1970. Earl was elected for three terms on the Perryville City Council as Alderman from Ward I (1962-1968). He was elected Perry County Collector in 1970 and served as collector until his retirement in 1987. He was active in the Perry County Senior Citizens Center, serving on the Board of Directors. Beam and Buna (Presnell) Beam of Troy, Ill., who survives. He was married on Aug. 25, 1969 to Catherine Phillips of Perryville, who survives. She was married on Oct. 31, 1964 to Donald “Flipper” Miget, who preceded her in death. Terbrak, who preceded her in death on Oct. 8, 1992. Survivors include two daughters, Jenette Weisler and Linda Cairns, both of Perryville; three sisters, Agnes Bohnert, Lillian Zahner and Jean Hunt, all of Perryville; 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one son, Wayne Terbrak, three sisters, two brothers, and an infant daughter. (Beel) Schafer, who preceded him in death on Jan. 16, 2005. Survivors include three sons, Donald Schafer of Atlanta, Ga.; Richard (Donna) Schafer of Marble Hill and Frank (Lisa) Schafer of Perryville; four daughters, Mary (Bill) Whiteside of Jackson; Rosie (Rodney) Roshek of Wright City; Judy (Brad) Proffer of Hamilton; and Susan (Larry) Bruhl of Jackson; one brother, three sisters, and many grandchildren. Survivors include two sons, Palmer (Sandra) Lohmann and Chalmer (Linda) Lohmann, all of Perryville; one sister, Wilma Mueller of Perryville; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, step-mother, wife, two brothers Edmund and Arthur; two sisters, Emma Oswald and Frieda Lohmann and one step-sister Alida Villhard. Mr. Lohmann was a farmer and drove a truck for MFA. Lottes, Jr. who preceded her in death Feb. 14, 1994. Survivors include one son, John “Skip” Lottes and wife Joanna J. Lottes of Perryville; two grandchildren, Karen L. Lundy and husband John of Perryville and Steven M. Lottes of Columbia; four great-grandchildren, Lezlie and Megan Lundy of Perryville and Sydney and Annie Lottes of Columbia. Mrs. Lottes was a registered nurse and graduated from Missouri Baptist School of Nursing in 1938 in St. Louis. She had been a resident of Chateau Girardeau in Cape Girardeau since moving from Perryville in 1993. She returned to Perryville in September 2008 to Independence Care Center. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one brother and four sisters. Memorials are preferred to Southeast Hospice or St. Vincent de Paul Endowment Fund. Cornelia O. Ernst Cornelia O. Ernst of Perryville died Thursday, July 16, 2009. She was 84. She was born Feb. 20, 1925 in Longtown, the daughter of the late August and Mary (Unterreiner) Bohnert. She was married on Sept. 2, 1946 to Robert M. Ernst, who preceded her in death . Survivors include three sons, Randy (Linda) Ernst of St. Louis; Karlie (Judy) Ernst and Bill (Vicki) Ernst, all of Perryville; four daughters, Pat (Denny) Winkler, Kathy (John) Doernhoefer, Ivyline (Gary) Luttrell and Bonnie Berkbigler, all of Perryville; 24 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one son, Bob Ernst; four brothers and three sisters. Memorials are preferred to charity of choice. The funeral Mass was held on Monday, July 20 at St. Joseph Catholic Church at Apple Creek with Rev. Tony Dattilo officiating. Burial was at St. Maurus Cemetery in Biehle. Ada Amelia Trapp Ada Amelia Trapp of Perryville died Sunday morning, July 19, 2009 at Independence Care Center in Perryville. After several years journey with Parkinson’s disease and dementia, her spirit was released to the Lord. May she live the everlasting life in heaven which has been prepared for her. She was 79. Ada was born June 18, 1930 to William and Emma (Zoellner) Schnurbusch of Apple Creek. Baptized and educated in the parish of St. Joseph of Apple Creek, she lived a life of grace in the faith of the Catholic Church and loved its devotional prayer. She was a much loved and devoted wife, mother and homemaker. Those who had the privilege of knowing her and caring for her always spoke of her personal beauty. During her life Ada sang in the parish choir at St. Joseph Church, loved to sew and cook, and provide the best for her family. She had enjoyed bowling, cleaning, manicuring, travel for music concerts and sight-seeing. She married Waldemar Trapp on Sept. 16, 1950. They raised three children Kathy (Moll) and Ken who are twins, and reside with their families in Perryville, and Lynn who resides in Minneapolis, Minn. In addition to Ada’s husband and children, survivors are five grandchildren, Tiffany, Dustin, Ryan Moll; Melissa and Brandon Trapp; and two great-grandchildren survive, Devon Kutz and Kaitlyn Moll, both children of Dustin Moll, and brother, Harold Schnurbusch of Cape Girardeau. Ada was preceded in death by her parents, and brothers Earl, Glennon, and sister, Beaulah (Winkler). Memorials may be made to Southeast Hospice or the Association of the Miraculous Medal. Visitation will be held in the Gathering Space at St. Vincent de Paul Church in Perryville on Tuesday July 21, from 4-7 p.m. The Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated with song at 7 p.m. with Rev. Milton Ryan. officiating. Private burial will take place the following day. Funeral services were provided by Miller Funeral Home of Perryville.

Bruce A. Lankford Bruce A. Lankford of Farmington died Thursday, July 9, 2009 at his brothers’ residence in Chester, Ill. He was born Thursday, Oct. 26, 1961 in Perryville, the son of the late Billy Joe Lankford and Alberta (Lawrence) Wilson of Perryville, who survives. Other survivors include two sons, Christopher Lankford and Jesse Lankford, both of St. Charles; one daughter, Lisa Lankford of Farmington; three brothers, Brian Lankford of St. Charles; Brad (Angela) Lankford of Chester, Ill. and Steve (Sarah) Lankford of Farmington; two sisters, Barbara Lankford of St. Charles and Shelly (Tim) Williford of Bismark; two step-brothers, Albert (Trina) Bieser of Irondale and David (Mary) Bieser of St. Mary; one step-sister, Deborah Bieser of Ste. Genevieve; and one granddaughter, Janelle Lankford. He was preceded in death by his father and step-sister, Barbara Bieser. Memorials can be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois. The funeral service was held on Monday, July 13 at Basler Funeral Home in St. Mary with Rev. Don Estes officiating. Burial was at Immaculate Conception Cemetery in St. Mary. She was married on Feb. 21, 1963 to William (Bill) Brown, who preceded her in death. Survivors include one son, Glennon (Melissa Stortz) Brown of Perryville; two daughters, Edna Seabaugh and Bonita Lalumondiere, both of Perryville; two brothers, Bob Glaub of Malden and Ralph Glaub of New Orleans, La.; one step-brother, Lawrence Milfelt of Apache Junction, Ariz.; two sisters, Mary Lou Favier and Mildred Kiefer, both of Perryville; and eight grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, three brothers, one step-brother, four step-sisters and two grandchildren. Mrs. Brown worked at Gilster-Mary Lee Cake Plant and Perry County Workshop. Memorials are preferred for family use. He was born Oct. 9, 1958 in Hugoton, Kan., the son of the late Jimmy Russell Woodling and Lila Mae (Hottenstein) Woodling Elbe. He was married on April 17, 2006 to Barbara (Hotop) Woodling, who survives in Perryville. Other survivors include one step-son, William Hotop of Perryville; two brothers, Russell (Patricia) Woodling of Littlefork, Minn.; James (Linda) Woodling of Emporia, Kan.; two sisters, Leana Kirby of Emporia, Kan. and Sheryl (Bill) Rhodes of Milton, Fla.; step-sister, Krista Elbe; father and mother-in-law, Robert and Mary Hotop of Cape Girardeau; two brothers and sister-in-law, Robert Hotop, Jr. of Cape Girardeau, Gina (Wendell) Hooper of Perryville and Mark Hotop of Perryville. Palmer W. Muench Palmer W. Muench of Bradenton, Fla., formerly of Cape Girardeau died Thursday, June 18, 2009. He was 70. He was born in 1939 in Farrar. He was married to Gloria Muench of Bradenton, Fla,. who survives. Other survivors include son, Gregg (Ann Stamp) and their children Braden, Jack and William of Lake St. Louis; son Douglas of Seoul, Korea; six brothers, Rev. Herbert (Melba) Muench of St. Charles; John (Mary Lou) Muench of Frohna; LeRoy (Aldine) Muench; George (Doris) Muench; Charles (Bonnie) Muench of Cissna Park, Ill.; and Rev. Dr. Paul (Andrea) Muench of Cedar Park, Texas; one sister, Barbara (Bob) Blackwell of Cape Girardeau; nieces and nephews. Mr. Muench attended Perryville High School and graduated in 1957 where he was an all-star athlete and student body president. Upon receiving a Top Secret Security Clearance he served three years with the United States Army in security at Albuquerque, N.M. While there he was an outstanding player on the Sandia Base teams including baseball, basketball, football, and volleyball. He earned a BA degree in 1966 in physical education from Willamette University, Salem, Oregon. His professional baseball career includes player for Kansas City Athletics and Chicago White Sox organizations, coach and trainer for the Philadelphia Phillies farm system, director of operations for the San Diego Padres Club in Washington, field manager for Kentucky Rifles in the Frontier League, as well as head baseball coach at Western State College of Colorado, Whitman College in Washington, Davidson College in North Carolina and St. John’s College in Kansas. He was head baseball coach at Southeast Missouri State University from 1985-94 before moving to Bradenton, Fla. to be an instructor at IMG Baseball Academy for 10 years. He was born Sept. 12, 1961 in Potosi, the son of the late Clyde and Dorothy (Ford) Waeltz. Survivors include two sons, Harold and Roger McClanahand, both of Perryville; one daughter, Katherine McIntyre of Perryville; one brother, Teddy Waeltz of Illinois; three sisters, Alice Waeltz of Illinois; Stella Wilson of Farmington and Brenda Whittaker of Iron Mountain Lake; and 10 grandchildren. He was a self-employed mechanic. He was preceded in death by his parents. Memorials are preferred for family use. Kenneth E. Corse Kenneth E. Corse of Perryville died Sunday, July 5, 2009 at his home. He was 75. He was born Sept. 21, 1933 in Perry County, the son of the late Fred R. Corse and Dolly (Horn) Corse of Columbia, who survives. He was married on Oct. 2, 1954 to Jean Ellen (Schrumpf) Corse of Perryville, who survives. Other survivors include three daughters, Michele (Bill) Aye of Mooresville, N.C.; Cheryl (Jim) Wibbenmeyer of Perryville; Jan (Kevin) Parson of Mooresville, N.C.; one brother, Harold (Laura) Corse of Perryville; one sister, Norma (Beaufort) Katt of Columbia; five grandchildren, Craig (Lori) Heberlie of Crosstown; Daniel (Kate) Heberlie of Bowling Green; Jessica and Keith Parson of Mooresville, N.C.; and Alicia Wibbenmeyer of Perryville; four great-grandchildren, Tyler Heberlie of Crosstown; Caleb, Anna, and Mia Heberlie of Bowling Green. He was preceded in death by his father, Fred R. Corse. Mr. Corse was an Army veteran. He worked for Saberliner Corporation for 49 years as an aircraft electrician. He was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church where he served many capacities including deacon and Sunday school teacher. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He loved fixing things and doing things for others. He loved riding his Harley and camping. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him. He was also past master of Perryville Masonic Lodge No. 670, past patron of Perryville OES No. 46, York Rite Bodies of Cape, and Christian Motorcycle Association. Memorials are preferred to Bethlehem Baptist Church in Crosstown or Perryville Masonic Lodge No. 670 or Southeast Hospice.
