Merlin A. “Curly” Wingerter
Merlin A. “Curly” Wingerter of Perryville died Monday, Nov. 24, 2008 at his home. He was 73.
He was born Jan. 1, 1935 in Biehle, the son of the late Frank and Bertha (Schott) Wingerter. He was married May 12, 1956 to Dorothy (Balsman) Wingerter, who survives in Perryville.  
Other survivors include three sons, Rick (Jean) Wingerter, Brian (Chris) Wingerter and John (Rebecca) Wingerter, all of Perryville; one daughter, Tammy (Tim) Tarrillion of Perryville; two brothers, Lloyd Wingerter of Perryville and Milton “Dick” Wingerter of Maryland Heights; one sister, Mildred Schott of Jackson; 15 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Elmer Wingerter and one sister, Alma Geringer.
Mr. Wingerter was a member of the United States Army National Guard for 27 years. He was the owner and operator of Curly’s Body Shop in Biehle for 28 years. He was a member of St. Maurus Catholic Church in Biehle, Biehle Social Club, AmVets, American Legion Post 133 and the Knights of Columbus.
The family prefers memorials be made to the St. Maurus Building Fund, Masses or the American Cancer Society
Visitation will be held Friday, Nov. 28 from 4-9 p.m. at Young & Sons Chapel in Perryville. A Catholic wake will be held at 5 p.m. Visitation will continue Saturday, Nov. 29 from 6:30-9:30 a.m. at Young & Sons. The rosary will be recited at 9 a.m. The funeral Mass will be held Saturday, Nov. 29 at 10 a.m. at St. Maurus Catholic Church in Biehle with Rev. Tony Dattilo officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery with military graveside service courtesy of the Delta Team.

Adrian V. Giesler
Adrian V. Giesler of Perryville died Saturday, Nov. 22, 2008 at Perry County Memorial Hospital in Perryville. He was 85.
He was born June 24, 1923 in St. Mary, the son of the late Bill and Hazel (Lawrence) Giesler. He was married June 23, 1980 to Betty (Lingle) Giesler, who survives in Perryville.
Other survivors include two sons, Gary Cato of Festus and Bruce Cato of San Antonio, Texas and twin grandsons, Brandon and Bryon Cato of North Carolina.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Glenn and Chub Giesler and one sister, Lucille Thomure.
Mr. Geilser was the owner and operator of Giesler Concrete before his retirement. He was a member of the Cape County Cowboy Church, Perryville Elks Lodge, American Legion Boosters and FLEAS.
The funeral service was held Wednesday, Nov. 26 at Miller Family Funeral Home Chapel in Perryville with Rev. Naamon Eaker and Rev. Jim Matthews officiating. Burial was at Bollinger County Memorial Park Cemetery in Bollinger County.

Paul H. Regelsperger
Paul H. Regelsperger of Markle, Ind., formerly of Fort Wayne, Ind. died Thursday, Nov. 20, 2008 at the Markle Health and Rehabilitation Center in Markle, Ind. He was 69.
He was born Jan. 30, 1939 in Perryville, the son of the late Thomas and Elma Regelsperger.
The funeral service was held Sunday, Nov. 23 at Elzey Patterson Rodak Funeral Homes in Fort Wayne, Ind. Burial was at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church Cemtery.

Steven Richard Lawbaugh
Steven Richard Lawbaugh of Mechanicsville, Md. died Tuesday, Nov. 18, 2008 at his home. He was 49.
He was born March 2, 1959 in San Diego, Calif., the son of Emanuel Sylvester Lawbaugh, who survives and the late Verna Catherine (Tucker) Lawbaugh. He was married to Maggie E. Lawbaugh, who survives in Mechanicsville, Md.
Other survivors include one son, Eric M. Lawbaugh, three daughters, Christine E., Laura C. and Rachel L. Lawbaugh; one brother, Jay Lawbaugh; two sisters, Kathy Punchak and Christine Miller, step-mother, Sonja Lawbaugh and many other relative and friends.
Services will be held at a later date.

Virda A. Moldenhauer
Virda A. Moldenhauer of Menfro died Saturday, Nov. 22, 2008 at Perry Oaks Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Perryville. She was 94.
She was born Feb. 3, 1914 in Menfro, the daughter of the late Edwin and Josephine (Boxdorfer) Horn. She was married June 3, 1933 to August J. Moldenhauer, who preceded her in death Nov. 6, 1997.
Survivors include two sons, Richard (Charlotte) Moldenhauer and Melvin (Ruby L.) Moldenhauer, all of Perryville; one sister, Dolly Corse of Columbia; one half-brother, Garland Horn of Granite City, Ill.; one half-sister, Myrna Jean Holcom of Cahokia, Ill.; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; three step-great-grandchildren and two step-great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers, Leroy and Robert Horn; two sisters, Beatrice Hager and Marie Lowell and one granddaughter.
Mrs. Moldenhauer was a bookkeeper for the family business, Moldenhauer Mill and a homemaker. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Crosstown and she liked to harvest pecans.
The family prefers memorials be made to Zion Lutheran Church Crosstown or Lutheran Home Hospice.
Visitation will continue Tuesday, Nov. 25 from 6:30-8:15 a.m at Young & Sons Chapel. The funeral service will be held Tuesday, Nov. 25 at 10 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church in Crosstown with Rev. Roger Abernathy officiating. Burial will be at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery in Perryville.

Rebecca Sue Mathis
Rebecca Sue Mathis of Perryville died Friday, Nov. 21, 2008 at Missouri Baptist Medical Center in St. Louis. She was 69.
She was born Sept. 10, 1939 in Attwood, Tenn., the daughter of the late Ruben and Mary (Tucker) Goodman. She was married Nov. 10, 1972 to Jewett Freeman Mathis, who survives in Perryville.
Other survivors include two sons, Daniel (Michelle) Hubbard of Centralia and Jacob (April) Bishop of Perryville; three daughters, Karen Bishop and Janice James, both of Fort Madison, Iowa and Jenny (Mike) Harmon of Hamilton, Ill.; five brothers, Daniel (Betty) Goodman of Newbury, Md., Tom (June) Goodman and Rick (Merrillyn) Goodman, all of West Des Moines, Iowa, David (Renee) Goodman of Hamilton, Ill. and Joe (Beckie) Goodman of St. Charles; two sisters, Naomi (Neil) Vitense of Yellville and Myrtle (Burly) McIntre of Texas; 12 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, one sister and one great-granddaughter.
Mrs. Mathis was a bookkeeper and secretary for Gus Hange Painting in St. Louis. She was a member of the Women’s Optimist Club and the Tuesday and Thursday Morning Women’s Bowling League.
A memorial service was held Monday, Nov. 24 at Miller Family Funeral Home in Perryville with Rev. Melvin Weiss officiating. A private burial was held.

Calvin P. Hoehn
Calvin P. Hoehn of Perryville died Thursday, Nov. 20, 2008 at his home. He was 61.
He was born June 2, 1947 in Perry County, the son of the late Walter and Erna (Hopfer) Hoehn. He was married April 12, 1969 to Joan (Buchheit) Hoehn, who survives in Perryville.   
Other survivors include two sons, Daniel (Shannon) Hoehn and Keith Hoehn, all of Perryville; one daughter, Amy (Todd) Roth of Cape Girardeau; one brother, Leroy (Arlene) Hoehn of Perryville; one sister, Dorothy (Gene) Schuessler of Cape Girardeau and four grandchildren, Brendan Smock, Logan Hoehn and Zoie and Ian Roth.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Mr. Hoehn was a United States Army veteran. He was a life long dairy and agriculture farmer. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Crosstown where he was also in the voters assembly, LLL Dart Ball team and church council. He was a member of American Legion Post 133.
The family prefers memorials be made to Zion Lutheran Church or the American Heart Association.
The funeral service was held Monday, Nov. 24 at Zion Lutheran Church in Crosstown with Rev. Roger Abernathy officiating. Burial was at Point Rest Cemetery in Menfro with military graveside services provided by American Legion Post 133.

Kenneth E. Killian
Kenneth E. Killian of Perryville died Tuesday, Nov. 18, 2008 at Missouri Baptist Medical Center. He was 72.
He was born Aug. 31, 1936 in Perryville, the son of the late Oscar L. and Georgia Mae (Rhoades) Killian Sr. He was married June 6, 1959 to Janet R. (Zahner) Killian, who survives in Perryville.  
Other survivors include three sons, Dr. Kevin Killian of St. Charles, Keith Killian of The Woodlands, Texas and Dr. Kent Killian of Kirkwood; three daughters, Kathy Parsons of Cape Girardeau, Kimberly Burns of Wentzville and Karla Smith of St. Charles; one brother, Oscar Killian Jr. of Sarasota, Fla. and 13 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Elmer; one sister, Virginia and one grandchild.
Mr. Killian was a United States Navy veteran. He was a lab, x-ray and nuclear medical technician at Perry County Memorial Hospital in Perryville for 50 years. He also worked at Chester Memorial Hospital as needed.
Kenneth was the chairman of the Perry County Red Cross Blood Drive for 30 years.
He was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church where he served as a Eucharistic minister. He was a member of the Holy Name Society, a fourth degree Knight of Columbus and the St. Vincent de Paul Society. He was a past member of the Jaycees, was active in A.A. and served on the board of the Perry County Health Department. He was instrumental in starting the Mineral Area Radiology School at Park Hills and helped many people become x-ray technicians and reach their goals.
The family prefers memorials be made to the St. Vincent School Endowment Fund, Masses or the American Diabetes Association.
Visitation will be held Friday, Nov. 21 from 5-9 p.m. at Miller Family Funeral Home in Perryville. Parish prayers with the Knights of Columbus will be at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue Saturday, Nov. 22 from 6:30 a.m.-12:50 p.m. at Miller Family Funeral Home. The rosary will be recited at 10 a.m. The funeral Mass will be held Saturday, Nov. 22 at 1 p.m. at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Perryville with Rev. Gerald Blessing officiating. Burial will be at Mount Hope Cemetery with graveside military honors courtesy of American Legion Post 133 and the Delta Team.

Eldon Moore
Eldon Moore of Perryville died Monday, Nov. 17, 2008. He was 80.
He was born Sept. 22, 1928 in Perryville, the son of the late Leonard and Edith (Nehouse) Moore. He was married Feb. 2, 1952 at Apple Creek to Theresa (Unterreiner) Moore, who survives in Perryville.  
Other survivors include one son, Thomas Moore of Perryville; one daughter, Tina Aden of Perryville; three brothers, Gene Moore of Indiana, Thomas Moore of Chicago, Ill. and John Moore of Perryville and two sisters, Mary Parres of Lake St. Louis and Shirley Scheper of Alton, Ill.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Memorials are preferred for family use.
Mr. Moore was a United States Army veteran. He was a foreman at International Shoe Company. He was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, VFW Post 4282, American Legion Post 133 and a past member of the Knights of Columbus.
Visitation will continue today, Thursday, Nov. 20 from 6:30-9:50 a.m. at Miller Family Funeral Home in Perryville. Louis N. Brown
Louis N. Brown formerly of Perryville died Wednesday, Nov. 12, 2008. He was 85.
He was born Jan. 27, 1923, the son of the late Louis and Genevieve (Friedman) Brown. He was married to Theresa (Blessing) Brown, who survives.   
Other survivors include four daughters, Wanda, Linda, Donna and Diane and two sisters, Aurelia Mattingly and Jeanette Maxfield.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter, five brothers and one sister.

Dorothy M. Schilli
Dorothy M. Schilli of Perryville, formerly of Farmington,  died Saturday, Nov. 15, 2008 at the Independence Care Center of Perry County in Perryville. She was 87.
She was born May 24, 1921 in Claryville, the daughter of the late August and Rosina (Schmidt) Vaeth. She was married May 20, 1947 at the Church of Ste. Genevieve to Francis Schilli, who survives in Perryville.
Other survivors include one son, Gerald Schilli of Fontana, Calif.; three daughters, Sr. Delores Schilli, CPPS of Perryville, Marie (Mike) Becker of Wildwood and Marilyn (Paul) Klearman of St. Louis; six grandchildren, Ryan, Todd, Eric and Chad Williams and Sara and Aaron Klearman; two great-grandchildren, Alexis and Mark Thomas Williams; one sister, Helen Meyer of Ste. Genevieve and numerous other relatives and friends.
Mrs. Schilli was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Farmington.

Frances Elizabeth Scharenborg of Perryville died Friday, Nov. 14, 2008 at Perry County Memorial Hospital in Perryville. She was 103.
She was born July 4, 1905 in Leopold, the daughter of the late George and Gesina (Wubker) Scharenborg.
Survivors include nephew, Elmer Renaud of Perryville and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, seven brothers, John Henry, Henry (Jay), Herman John, John George, Joseph Francecus, William John and August John Scharenborg and three sisters, Mary Arnzen, Catherine Renaud and Rosina Seiler.
Ms. Scharenborg was a private maid. She was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church.
The family prefers memorials be made to St. Vincent Schools or Masses.

Mary Dell Clingingsmith
Mary Dell Clingingsmith of Oak Ridge died Friday, Nov. 14, 2008 at the Independence Care Center in Perryville. She was 90.
She was born Dec. 11, 1917 near Old Appleton, the daughter of the late Oscar and Roxie (Kurre) Lang. She was married Aug. 8, 1951 to Adrian Miller Clingingsmith, who preceded her in death Oct. 16, 1997.
Survivors include two sons, Alan (Glenna) Clingingsmith of Hays, Kan. and Perry (Carlene) Clingingsmith of Oak Ridge; two sisters-in-law, Buelah (Robert) Lang of Idaho and Trula (Isadore) Halpern of Arizona; six grandchildren, Rachel (Don) Larsen of Perryville, Brent Clingingsmith of Lawrence, Kan., Ashley Clingingsmith of Jackson, Gregory Clingingsmith of Alberquque, N.M., Adria (Mark) Polson of Wichita, Kan. and Deidra Clingingsmith of Chaffee; six great-grandchildren, Riley, Brock, Carlaena, Chase, Autumn and Landon Perry and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, four brothers, Virgil, William, Byron and Robert Lang and two sisters, Margaret Leimer and Leona Tuschhoff.
Mrs. Clingingsmith retired from teaching in 1979. She earned her teaching degree from Southeast Missouri State University and began her career at Buckeye School, a one-room schoolhouse in north Cape County. She then taught Home Economics, and occasionally art, at Oak Ridge R-6. She sponsored the Future Homemakers of America chapter, which at the time of her retirement was the largest chapter at Oak Ridge. She was a life-long member of Zion United Methodist Church in Old Appleton, Cheerful Country Doers, FCE Chapter since 1973 and Missouri Retired Teacher’s Association. She was a SEMO fair judge and active with 4-H until her health prevented her continued participation. Mary Dell dedicated her life to education in the church, public school system and the community.

The funeral service will be held today, Tuesday, Nov. 18 at 10:30 a.m. at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson with Rev. Janet Hopkins and Rev. James Brice officiating. Burial will be at Zion Methodist Church Cemetery at Old Appleton.

Ernest E. Weiss
Ernest E. Weiss of Perryville died Monday, Nov. 17, 2008 at his residence. He was 74.
He was born Aug. 6, 1934 in Perry County, the son of the late Rudolph and Bertha (Metzger) Weiss. He was married June 11, 1955 to Rosemary Flora (Weisbrod) Weiss, who survives in Perryville.  
Other survivors include one daughter, Sheryl (Russel) Winschel of Perryville; one son, Mark (Maya Prizzi) Weiss of St. Louis; one brother, Glennon (Genie) Weiss of Dothan, Ala.; two sisters, Barbara (Edwin) Huber of Decatur, Ill. and Rita (Robert) Laurentius of St. Louis; six grandchildren, Jennifer Tolcou, Jason (Holly) Williamson, Andrew (Jackie) Williamson and Gianina, Audrey and Sadie Weiss; one great-granddaughter, Samantha Williamson and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Ben Weiss.

Mr. Weiss began his career in 1952 as a roofing contractor with AALCO Roofing, Inc. in St. Louis. He later became the owner and operator of that business from 1966-2007 when he retired. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Highland, church council, Holy Name Society, Knights of Columbus Council 1263 and the Mountain View Hunting League.
Visitation will be held Thursday, Nov. 20 from 4-9 p.m. at Young & Sons Chapel in Perryville. Lois J. Coffelt
Lois J. Coffelt of Perryville died Thursday, Nov. 13, 2008 at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis. She was 51.
She was born May 3, 1957 in Perryville, the daughter of Ruth Ann (Hudson) Coffelt of Perryville and the late Eugene C. Coffelt.
Other survivors include one brother, Charles E. Coffelt of Perryville; one sister, Loraine Pabst of St. Louis; three nephews, Benjamin (Jessica) Coffelt, James Tiller and Garrett Basanko; three nieces, Jessica (Mark) King, Allison Coffelt and Laurie McGarvey and nine great-nieces and nephews, Lauren, Allison, Erin and Aidan McGarvey, Brandon, Bradley and Brett Coffelt and Courtney and Nickolas King.
She was preceded in death by her father.
Ms. Coffelt was the administrative assistant at Perry County Memorial Hospital.
The family prefers memorials be made to the Missouri Veterans Home in Cape Girardeau.

William Boyer
William K. Boyer
William K. Boyer of Perryville died Tuesday, Nov. 11, 2008 at his residence. He was 90.
He was born Sept. 2, 1918 in Detroit, Mich., the son of the late George and Rachel (Knox) Boyer. He was married Jan. 8, 1944 to Marion (Peters) Boyer, who survives in Perryville.  
Other survivors include four sons, Jack Boyer and Billy Boyer of Perryville, George P. (Kathy) Boyer of Romeo, Mich. and Jim (Pat) Boyer of Sterling Heights, Mich.; two grandsons, Michael (Rhiannon), George C.; three granddaughters, Erica, Tonya (Jeff) and Julie and two great-grandchildren, Jeffrey Jr. and Jordan.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Guila; one daughter, Mary and one grandson, Ryan.
The family prefers memorials be made to the Lutheran Home Hospice in Cape Girardeau.
Mr. Boyer was a captain in the United States Army Air Corp during World War II. While serving his country he was a highly decorated B17 Bomber pilot receiving two Purple Hearts among his numerous medals and awards. He and his wife moved to Perryville in 1982 upon his retirement from Chrysler Defense in Detroit, Mich. He enjoyed many years of farming with his sons, especially splitting wood and mowing grass.
A private service was held Wednesday, Nov. 12 at Wilson Funeral Home in Fredericktown.

Ralph Melvin Thompson
Ralph Melvin Thompson of Perryville died Saturday, Nov. 8, 2008 at his residence. He was 83.
He was born March 8, 1925 in Perry County, the son of the late Leo and Ruth (Harris) Thompson. He was married Jan. 1, 1943 to Alma (Johnson) Thompson, who preceded him in death, Aug. 3, 2006.  
Survivors include six sons, David (Audrey) Thompson, Clark (Nancy) Thompson, Jim (Vicki) Thompson, Danny (Cathy) Thompson and Lonnie (Diana) Thompson, all of Perryville and Stanley (Cindy) Thompson of Oklahoma; three daughters, Mary Ann Thompson, Diana (George) Lukefahr and Donna (Shorty) Hudson, all of Perryville; two brothers, Leonard Thompson of Forreston, Texas and Lester Thompson of Perryville; two sisters, Leona Johnson of Denison, Texas and Ruth Ann Dodds of Perryville; 22 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, two sisters and five brothers.
Mr. Thompson was retired from the United States Air Force and a World War II and Korean War veteran. He was a farmer and a member of the Whitewater Christian Church.
The family prefers memorials be made to Whitewater Christian Church or Cemetery Fund or Southeast Missouri Hospice.
A graveside service was held Wednesday, Nov. 12, 2008 at Whitewater Christian Cemetery with Rev. Melvin Weiss officiating. A military graveside service was provided by the United States Air Force.

Bill J. Hunt of Perryville died Saturday, Nov. 8, 2008 at his residence. He was 62.
He was born Jan. 9. 1946 in New Hall, Calif., the son of Walter and Juanita (Gragg) Hunt, who survive in Glencoe, Ark. He was married March 29, 1969 to Lydia Kay (Michaud) Hunt, who preceded him in death, Nov. 1, 1994.  
Other survivors include two daughters, Jeanine (Jim) Simpson of Perryville and Justine (Hunt) of Cape Girardeau; two sisters, Pat (Kenny) Kirkland of Salem, Ark. and Pam (Stan) Rider of Agnos, Ark. and two grandchildren, Jerome and Ann Marie Simpson.
He was preceded in death by his wife.
The family prefers memorials be made to Bethal Assembly of God in Cape Girardeau.
Mr. Hunt was a United States Army veteran of the Vietnam War and a former member of the Missouri Army National Guard 1140th in Perryville. He was a retired field appraiser for the Perry County Assessor’s Office and a member of Bethel Assembly of God in Cape Girardeau.
The funeral service was held Wednesday, Nov. 12, 2008 at Young & Sons Chapel in Perryville with Rev. Phillip Roop officiating. Burial was at Home Cemetery with military graveside service provided by American Legion Post 113 and Delta Team.

Lucille M. Young of Perryville died Thursday, Nov. 6, 2008 at the Independence Care Center of Perry County. She was 92.
She was born Dec. 30, 1915 in Perry County, the daughter of the late August P. and Anna (Gotto) Versheldon. She was married Oct. 9, 1937 to Wallace Willard Young, who preceded her in death Aug. 15, 1994.
Survivors include one son, David Scott Young of Perryville; one daughter, Mary Lynne Gotto of Perryville; six grandchildren, Jeffrey Young, Kim Bishop, Chris Young, Stephanie Thieret, Amy DeRousse and Myra Gotto; 16 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, four brothers, William Sr., John, Carroll and Bernard Versheldon and five sisters, Elizabeth “Sis”, Mary, Edna and Evelyn “Sr. Augustine” Versheldon and Agnes Bauwens.
Mrs. Young was a kindergarten teacher at St. Boniface for 25 years. She was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, past regent of Daughters of Isabella, Ladies of Charity, SV Alumni Association, Perry County Historical Society, retired teachers association and a church lector.

Herbert A. Kramer of Uniontown died Wednesday, Nov. 5, 2008 at Perry County Memorial Hospital in Perryville. He was 86.
He was born Sept. 4, 1922 in Frohna, the son of the late Ernst and Martha (Vogel) Kramer. He was married Aug. 17, 1947 to Wilma A. (Reisenbichler) Kramer, who preceded him in death June 28, 2002.  
Survivors include two sons, Ken (Cindy) Kramer of Jackson and Steve (Tina) Kramer of Oak Ridge; two daughters, Kathryn (Marvin) Scholl of Frohna and Kay Kramer of Los Angeles, Calif.; one brother, Roy Kramer of St. Paul, Minn.; three sisters, Lillian Pingel of Bella Vista, Ark., Marie Wirth and Betty Meyer, both of St. Louis; 11 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, one daughter, Karen Jean Kramer and one sister, Doris Bergman.
The family prefers memorials be made to Lutheran Hour, Grace Lutheran Building Fund or Saxony Lutheran High School.
Mr. Kramer was a United States Army veteran of World War II. He was a dairy farmer, a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Uniontown and Production Credit in Farmington. He was a past director of Mid-America Dairyman.
The funeral service was held Saturday, Nov. 8 at Grace Lutheran Church in Uniontown with Rev. Paul Winningham officiating. Burial was at the church cemetery with military graveside services provided by the Missouri Honors team.

Mabel E. Buchheit  of Perryville died Wednesday, Nov. 5, 2008 at Independence Court in Perryville. She was 84.
She was born May 5, 1924 in Kingston, NY, the daughter of the late Willis and Anna Clapper Warren. She was married Nov. 6, 1944 at Camp Upton Long Island, NY to August H. Buchheit, who preceded her in death Dec. 21, 2007.
Survivors include four sons, Bruce Buchheit of Perryville, Steve Buchheit of Springfield, Daniel Buchheit of Columbia and Stanley Buchheit of Chester, Ill.; one daughter, Joan Jany of Chester, Ill.; 13 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three brothers and five sisters.
Mrs. Buchheit was a WAC having served during World War II. She worked at International Shoe Company for 22 years. She was a past member of the American Legion Post 133 in Perryville.

Shirley J. Pribble of Bloomsdale died Wednesday, Oct. 29, 2008 at Riverview Manor Care and Rehabilitation Center in Bloomsdale. She was 72.
She was born April 21,1936 in Fredericktown, the daughter of the late Cecil and Fern (Link) Francis. She was married to Lawrence Pribble, who survives in Bloomsdale.
Others survivors include two sons, Randall (Sue) Pribble of Pampa, Texas and Larry (Mary Jo) Pribble of Carol Stream, Ill.; three daughters, Kathy (Tim) Stanley of Bonne Terre, Veva Evans of Troy and Rebecca Pribble of Bloomsdale; two brothers, Cecil (Wanda) Francis of Sikeston and Jerry (Debbie) Francis of Farmington; two sisters, Joanne Mell of Farmington and June Henderson of Fredericktown; 12 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother-in-law, Albert Henderson.

Margaret E. Bachmann of Perryville died Nov. 4, 2008 at Independence Care Center of Perry County. She was 103.
She was born May 14, 1905 in Sereno, the daughter of the late Ed and Louise (Villhard) Valleroy. She was married May 6, 1928 to Theodor M. Bachmann, who preceded her in death, July 3, 1973.
Survivors include three sons, Robert Bachmann of Lexington, Ky., Melvin Bachmann of St. Louis and Calvin (Lorna) Bachmann of Perryville; one daughter, Janet Feltz of Perryville; one brother, Clarence Valleroy of Perryville; 15 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, four brothers, Carl, Edgar, William “Brushy” and Gilbert Valleroy and one sister, Lillie Thieret.
Mrs. Bachmann was a cook at Immanuel Lutheran School and a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and Ladies Aid.

Roy R. Skaggs of Cape Girardeau died Sunday, Nov. 2, 2008 at The Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau. He was 95.
He was born July 15, 1913 in Perry County, the son of the late Raymond and Elizabeth (McDowell) Skaggs. He was married July 25, 1935 to Ruby A. (Hand) Skaggs, who preceded him in death Nov. 29, 1986.  
Survivors include one son, Calvin L. Skaggs of New York City, NY; one daughter, Wanda J. Louden of Jackson; one brother, Paul Skaggs of St. Louis; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, one brother, Plummer and two sisters, Ethel Hoff and Sylvia Henderson.
Mr. Skaggs was retired from International/Florsheim Shoe Co. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Cape Girardeau, Masonic Lodge and Eastern Star in Perryville.

Anselm J. Cattoor of St. Charles died Wednesday, Oct. 29, 2008. He was 87.
He was born the son of the late Ausiel and Agnes Cattoor. He was married to Jane Cattoor who survives in St. Charles.  
Other survivors include two sons, Joseph Piekarski and Mark (Marilyn) Piekarski; one brother, Dale T. Cattoor; four grandchildren, Matthew, Jeffery, Melissa and Michael and five great-grandchildren, Noah, Abigail, Mia, Joey and Alya.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Harry Cattoor and Cletus Cattoor and one sister, Doris Cattoor.
Mr. Cattoor was a United States Air Force veteran of World War II and an American ex-prisoner of war. He was a machinist repairman at Wagner Electric in St. Louis. He was a member of VFW Post 4282 in Perryville and a life member of DAV.

Rose Mary Schremp-Johns of Frohna died Saturday, Nov. 1, 2008 at her residence. She was 57.
She was born Oct. 25, 1951 in St. Charles, the daughter of the late Alfred and Thelma (Luebrecht) Sachs. She was married March 11, 1972 to Randy J. Schremp, who preceded her in death Nov. 6, 1972.
Survivors include two brothers, Gary (Shelley) Sachs of Altenburg and Rick (Valerie) Sachs of Frohna and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Roland Sachs.
Mrs. Schremp-Johns graduated from St. Vincent High School in Perryville in 1969. She worked in the utilization review department at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau and Perry County Memorial Hospital in Perryville. She attended Cape First Church in Cape Girardeau.

Hilda M. Fritzemeyer of Joplin died Thursday, Oct. 30, 2008 at Freeman East Hospital. She was 92.
She was born Feb. 8, 1916 in St. Louis, the daughter of the late Leo and Theresa Gegg. She was married Nov. 11, 1950 in St. Louis to Clarence R. Fritzemeyer, who survives in Joplin.
Other survivors include one granddaughter, Kristan (Tom) Hills and two great-grandchildren, Dylan and Tanner Hills.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one son, Bob Wills.
Mrs. Fritzemeyer lived in Joplin the past three years, moving from Perryville. She was a seamstress most of her life and enjoyed the outdoors including camping and fishing.
A graveside service was held Monday, Nov. 3 at Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery.

Bertha M. “June” Kiefer of St. Ann died Thursday, Oct. 23 at the home of her father-in-law in Perryville. She was 66.
She was born June 20, 1942 in Lixville, the daughter of the late Virgil and Elsie (Hannes) McGraw. She was married March 21, 1959 in Chester, Ill. to Robert Kiefer, who survivors in St. Ann.

She was born March 9, 1916 in Farrar, the daughter of the late Louis Steffens and Mary (Verseman) Steffens Hemmann. She was married Aug. 11, 1946 to Gilbert Roth, who preceded her in death March 22, 1976.
Survivors include one son, Phil (Kathy) Roth of Innsbrook; one brother, Alvert (Dorothy) Hemman of Brazeau; two sisters, Hilda (Brueckner) Slesak of Perryville and Oleen Saffell of Longtown and three grandchildren, Timothy, Benjamin and Jennifer Roth.

Loraine Ethel Beck of Pinckneyville, Ill. died Wednesday, Oct. 22, 2008 at Pinckneyville Community Hospital in Pinckneyville, Ill. She was 80.
She was born May 23, 1928 in Conant, Ill., the daughter of the late Adolph H. and Bertha (Krick) Beck.
Survivors include one nephew, Michael (Dona) Beck of St. Mary; one niece, Marilyn (Glen) Brickhaus of Perryville; one great-nephew, Nick Beck; two great-nieces, Sasha and Katia Brickhaus of Perryville; two cousins, Donald Beck and Marjorie Beck, both of Pinckneyville, Ill. and many, many good friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Raymond Beck and Kenneth Beck and a sister-in-law, Lucille Beck.
Ms. Beck was employed in the St. Louis area at Brown Group International as head of payroll and finished her career at Ralston-Purina. In her lifetime she was confirmed at and a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Conant, Ill., a member of the Perry County Jail Museum and a former member of the American Thresherman Association.

Kenneth P. Koenig of Perryville died Wednesday, Oct. 22, 2008 at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau. He was 51.
He was born Nov. 3, 1956 in Perryville, the son of Marvin and Eunice (Steffens) Koenig, who survive in Perryville.  
Other survivors include four brothers, Russell (Mary) Koenig and Lynn (Dana) Koenig, all of Perryville, Randy (Kathy) Koenig of Newburgh, Ind. and Darrell (Sandra) Koenig of Paducah, Ken. and two sisters, Sharon Abel and Jan Emmendorfer, both of Perryville.
Mr. Koenig worked at Chrysler in St. Louis. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Perry County Sportsman’s Club and Elks Lodge 2701.

Survivors include three sons, Clifford Shriver Jr. and James Shriver, both of Perryville and Thomas Shriver of St. Louis; one daughter, Eva Burch of St. Louis; two brothers, Joseph Isgriggs of St. Charles and Jim Ambrose of St. James; three sisters, Frances Eldridge of Kingman, Ariz., Irene Lawrence of Union and Viola Kolaher of St. Louis and six grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters and two brothers.

John Edward Miller
John Edward Miller of Perryville died Wednesday, Oct. 15, 2008 at st. Louis University Hospital in St. Louis. He was 46.
He was born Nov. 18, 1961 in St. Louis, the son of Genevieve (Ginny) Miller of Perryville and the late Lindell Miller. He was married April 17, 1992 in Petersburg, Alaska to Tisa (Mintken) Miller, who survives in Perryville.  
Other survivors include three dogs, Jake, Peewee and Nitro, that he loved like children; one brother, Jim (April) Miller of Petersburg, Alaska; one sister, Linda Jean Miller of Juneau, Alaska and numerous nieces, nephews and other family members.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Mr. Miller enjoyed hunting, fishing and he loved Rams football. He was a man more at home fishing on the river then staying in a five star hotel.
A memorial service was held Saturday, Oct. 25, 2008 at Fellowship Baptist Church in Lesterville.

Michael Nenninger
Michael Nenninger of Lexington died Aug. 18, 2008. He was 58.
He was born in Perryville to the late Milford and Gladys Nenninger.
Survivors include his wife, Jane (Billet) Nenninger, three daughters, Katy, Rachel (Brian) Grote and Elizabeth (Ben) Hicks; one son, Andrew Nenninger; one brother, Charles (Carol) Nenninger of Perryville; one sister, Judith (Jim) Squires of St. Charles; one sister-in-law, Connie Nenninger of Albuquerque, NM; one granddaughter, Abigail Jane Grote and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Richard Nenninger.
Mr. Nenninger retired in January 2008 as customer development manager after 26 years of dedicated service to Ryder Transportation Services.
He was an inspiration to all who knew him and remained positive to the end in his struggle with cancer.

Lorene M. Koepke of St. Louis died Monday, Oct. 20, 2008 at her home. She was 84.
She was born in Frohna, the daughter of the late Arthur A. and Magdalena (Oberndorfer) Kassel. She was married to Robert “Ted” Koepke, who preceded her in death.
Survivors include one son, Ronald (Marilyn) Koepke of Monroe, La.; two daughters, Barbara (John) Zeile and Beverly (Jim) Kamphoefner; six grandchildren, Katherine (David), Laura, Paul, John, Susan and Seth. She was a dear sister, sister-in-law, aunt, great-aunt, cousin and friend of many.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
Mrs. Koepke was a homemaker. Lorene and Ted served for 26 years as Lutheran missionaries in India until Ted’s death in 1973. Since then, Lorene has been active as a volunteer at the Lutheran Church of Webster Gardens and other Lutheran and community agencies including the Lutheran Blind Mission and Lutheran World Relief. She tutored immigrants to learn English and gain citizenship. She was awarded by Lutheran Senior Services with a Senior Service in Christ award in 2007.

She was born Jan. 22, 1919 in Fredericktown, the daughter of the late Alfred and Maude (Watts) Mudge. She was married Aug. 22, 1936 to John H. Duvall, who preceded her in death, Nov. 17, 1989.  
Survivors include two sons, John (Judy) Duvall of Perryville and James Duvall (special friend, Virginia Christopher) of Ste. Genevieve; two daughters Delores (Kenneth) Oster of St. Mary and Ruth (Jerry) Parker of Gordonville; one sister, Helen Skaggs of Fredericktown, 14 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren and 11 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sisters, Guida Lee and Glenda Rolens and two step-sisters, Ada Schulte and Lillian Lawrence.

Julian C. Funke
Julian C. Funke of Prairie Village, Kan., died Sunday, Oct. 19, 2008. He was 98.
He was born Dec. 29, 1909 in Longtown. He was married May 22, 1937 to Ethel (Ebmeier) Funke, who preceded him in death.  
Survivors include his adopted family, Dean and Pat Davenport, two grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, one niece and two nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife and eight siblings.
Mr. Funke was in the Hospital Corps of the US Navy during World War II serving in the Navy Brace Shop making and fitting artificial limbs from 1943-45 when he retired a petty officer third class. Funke worked for the Kansas City Area Transportation Authority as a streetcar and bus driver for 28 years. He was a member of the Transit Golden Age Club, Keen Agers and volunteered at the Shawnee Mission Medical Center for 16 years. He was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church in Overland Park, Kan. He will be missed by his many friends at church and at his former residence, Overland Park Place. He was a cheerful, friendly person, loved by all.

Frederick T. Morland of Perryville died Wednesday, Oct. 15, 2008 at Perry Oaks. He was 60.
He was born Feb. 25, 1948 in St. Louis, the son of the late Frank and Anna Morland. He was married June 7, 1973 to Marsha (Haynes) Morland, who survives in Perryville.
Other survivors include three sons, Freddie (Jackie) Morland, Frank (Misty) Morland and Brian Morland; four daughters, Angeline Morland, Marsha (Jerry) Parker, Anna (Shawn) Schmidt and Celest Morland; four sisters, Anna Collins, Barbara Brown, Earline Martin and Maxine Rose and 13 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, John Morland and one infant son, Christopher.
Mr. Morland joined the United States Army in 1967-1971. He served in the Vietnam War.
Memorials are preferred for family use.

Loretta M. Moeckel of Perryville died Sunday, Oct. 19, 2008 at her residence. She was 76.
She was born July 11, 1932 in Jacob, Ill., the daughter of the late Alfons and Flora (Grode) Heines. She was married Nov. 10, 1951 to Dr. Russell J. Moeckel, who preceded her in death Dec. 6, 1994.
Survivors include one son, Dr. Keith (Shelly) Moeckel of Perryville; two daughters, Vicky (Bill) Surman of Lee’s Summit and Toni (Duane) Moll of Cape Girardeau; eight grandchildren, Tosha (Beau) Baker, Ryan and Alissa Moeckel, Ben Surman, Karrie, Kirstin, Evan and Hayden Moll.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
Mrs. Moeckel was a homemaker. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, where she was a volunteer church librarian and part-time church secretary. She was a Girl Scout Leader and member and secretary of the board of the Otahki Council. She was a recipient of the Girl Scout Thanks Badge. She was an avid golfer and a Perryville Country Club board member and served as secretary to the board. Mrs. Moeckel was instrumental in organizing the Saxony Lutheran High School fundraising golf tournament. She belonged to the Perry County Memorial Hospital Auxiliary. She was a school board member for District 32 and was a member of the Red Hat Society.

Viola E. Watts of Perryville died Saturday, Oct. 18, 2008 at Independence Care Center of Perry County. She was 86.
She was born Nov. 6, 1921 in Arkansas, the daughter of the late James W. and Mahalie (Probst) Sutton. She was married Jan. 18, 1939 to James B. Watts, who preceded her in death Dec. 4, 1999.
Survivors include two sons, James (Kay) Watts and Sam (Diane) Watts, all of Perryville; one daughter, Betty (Tony) Herford of Angleton, Texas; five grandchildren, Matthew Watts, April (Jake) Bishop, Shelly (Rick) Deisher, Mary (Stacy) Smith and James Herford and nine great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one son, Jimmy C. Watts; two granddaughters, Beth Herford and Kimberly Ann (Watts) Hiten; one grandson, James G. Watts; one brother, Wesley Sutton and one sister, Frances Picket.
Mrs. Watts was a homemaker and of the Methodist faith.

Linda Lou Edmond of Perryville died Saturday, Oct. 18, 2008 at her residence. She was 54.
She was born June 4, 1954 in Fredericktown, the daughter of John Wesley and Jessie (Coppaway) Edmond. She was married to Paul Joseph Keller Sr., who survives.

Gilbert F. Blasiney of Cape Girardeau died Saturday, Oct. 18, 2008 at Missouri Veteran’s Home in Cape Girardeau. He was 81.
He was born May 6, 1927 in St. Louis, the son of the late Frank and Elsie (Schindler) Blasiney. He was married Oct. 16, 1954 to Estelle (Baumann) Blasiney in River Aux Vases, who survives in Cape Girardeau.
Other survivors include one son, Bob (Debbie) Blasiney of Cape Girardeau; one daughter, Wanda (Glenn) Bailey of Benton; four grandchildren, Phillip Wichern of Jackson, Amy Wichern, Franck Blasiney and Katherine Blasiney, all of Cape Girardeau.
He is preceded in death by one brother.
Mr. Blasiney was a United States Army veteran of the Korean War. He was a farmer and was retired from the Mississippi Lime Co. He was a life member of the American Legion, VFW and a charter member of the AmVets. He was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church and a third degree Knight of Columbus.

Norma Lee Clifton of Perryville died Tuesday, Oct. 14, 2008 at Independence Care Center of Perry County. She was 86.
She was born Oct. 13, 1922 in Farrar, the daughter of the late Max and Gertrude (Muench) Fritsche. She was married May 19, 1945 to James W. Clifton who preceded her in death, March 23, 2005.
Survivors include five sons, Michael (Cindy) Clifton of Washington, James Clifton, Richard (Donell) Clifton, Stephen (Mary Ann) Clifton and Robert (Michelle) Clifton, all of Perryville; five daughters, Patricia (Edward) Hager of Elkton, Md., Diana (Tom) Kennedy of Hillsboro, Linda (Dennis) Mattingly, Jeanine (Danny) Kennon and Carolyn (Larry) Pecaut, all of Perryville; one sister-in-law, Elda Fritsche of Perryville; 22 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, five step-grandchildren and three step-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three brothers, Eugene, Erwin and Gilbert Fritsche and three sisters, Lilly Ehlers, Elsie Koch and Erna Rubel.
Mrs. Clifton was a housewife, homemaker and a wedding cake decorator. She was a member of St. James Catholic Church in Crosstown where she was also a Sunday School teacher and former member of Ladies Sodality. She helped with the Perry County voters poll. She loved to cook, bake, work in the garden, babysit her grandchildren and crochet dollies and Christmas ornaments.

Mary Eileen Thompson of Perryville died Monday, Oct. 13, 2008 at the Independence Care Center in Perryville. She was 80.
She was born April 12, 1928 in Detroit, Mich., the daughter of the late Noel E. and Hazel M. (Eugas) Johnson. She was married April 16, 1947 to Richard E. Thompson, who preceded her in death Dec. 4, 1991.
Survivors include two sons, Ronald (Lela) Thompson of Big Spring, Texas and Tim (Penny) Thompson of Waynesville, Ga.; two daughters, Connie (Clyde) Johnson of Perryville and Kitty (Rocky) Schrecengost of Mineola, Texas; one brother, Dan Johnson of Perryville; nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and one sister, Alma Thompson.
Mrs. Thompson was a school teacher in rural Perry County and a pharmacy billing clerk. She was a member of the Church of Christ.

Ray Wibbenmeyer of Perryville died Sunday, Oct. 12, 2008. He was 86.
He was born Nov. 10, 1921 in Biehle, the son of the late Hugo and Cecelia (Lappe) Wibbenmeyer.
He was married June 16, 1950 to Iona (Cissell) Wibbenmeyer, who survives in Perryville.  
Other survivors include four sons, Charles Wibbenmeyer of Ste. Genevieve, Paul Wibbenmeyer of Oakland, Calif., Kevin Wibbenmeyer of Sikeston and Patrick Wibbenmeyer of Lexington, Ky.; one daughter, Mary Keesee of High Ridge; two brothers, Thomas Wibbenmeyer of Peoria, Ill. and Ralph Wibbenmeyer of Old Appleton and six grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and one brother.
Mr. Wibbenmeyer was a World War II Army veteran where he served as a corporal in a Field Artillery Battalion and was awarded the Bronze Star. He was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, Holy Name Society, American Legion Post 133 and the VFW.

Wernold Rayburn “Ray” Graff of Milwaukie, Ore., formerly of Perryville, died Aug. 29, 2008 as a result of a stroke. He was 72.
He was born Jan. 10, 1938 in Perryville. He was married to Eleanor Graff for 54 years. She survives in Milwaukie, Ore.  
Other survivors include one son, Richard Graff of Portland, Ore.; one daughter, Kathleen (Steve) Miller of Reedsport, Ore.; one sister, Marilyn Campbell of Portland, Ore; three grandsons, Kris (Jaelene) Quinby of Portland, Ore., Capt. Kerry (Katie) Quinby of San Diego, Calif. and Jamie Graff of Washington State; two great-grandchildren, Lilith and Jonathan and a great-granddaughter expected in November.
He was preceded in death by one son, Victor Graff in 1964.
Mr. Graff was retired from Hanna Car Wash Systems International in 1988 after a 20-plus year career.
Ray has many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews and was involved in the lives of many children who called him “Papa.” Ray’s joy in life was children. He never met one he didn’t love and adore, just as they loved and adored him.
In lieu of flowers the family prefers memorials be made to the American Cancer Society.
At his request he was an organ and tissue donor so that many lives could be benefited. Friends and family will hold a potluck celebration of life for Ray Oct. 25 from 1-4 p.m. at the First Baptist Church of Milwaukie, 10750 SE 42nd, Milwaukie, Ore.

Virginia A. Bregitzer of Chesterfield, formerly of St. Mary, died Friday, Oct. 3, 2008 at her residence. She was 75.
She was married to Paul W. Bregitzer.
Other survivors include one son, Phillip (Edith) Bregitzer; one daughter, Ann (Ricardo) Brinckwirth; two sisters, Margaret McKinnis and Jean (Gerald) Ellis; one brother, Paul (Audrey) Dillard and three grandchildren.
Mrs. Bregitzer was an elementary school teacher for 32 years at Delmar-Harvard School in University City.

Anthony J. Moranville of Ste. Genevieve, formerly of Perryville, died Tuesday, Sept. 30, 2008 at Riverview Manor in Ste. Genevieve. He was 78.
He was born Sept. 13, 1930 in Perryville, the son of the late Anthony V. and Lunetta A. (Jannin) Moranville.  
Survivors include one brother, Jim Moranville of Labadie.
Mr. Moranville was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters, Mary Lou Sandler, Rose O’Berle and Hilda DeWilde.
Mr. Moranville was a meat cutter for Kroger Grocery Store in Perryville. He was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Perryville and a third degree Knight of Columbus.

Terry L. Favier of Perryville died Thursday, Oct. 2, 2008 at his residence. He was 54.
He was born Aug. 2, 1954 in Perryville, the son of Anna (Layton) Favier, who survives in Perryville and the late Clark Favier. He was married July 9, 1999 to Myrna (Aldrich) Favier, who survives in Perryville.  
Other survivors include five sons, Chad Favier of Farmington, Chris Favier and Daniel Hensley, both of Perryville and Michael and Rob Aldrich, both of Florida; two sisters, Cindy Otte and Donna Wood, both of Perryville and four grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father and one brother, Billy Favier.

Clyde J. “Blackie” Besand of Perryville died Thursday, Oct. 2, 2008 at Missouri Veterans Home in Cape Girardeau. He was 74.
He was born Oct. 23, 1933 in Perryville, the son of the late Bertrand G. and Frances Ann (McCauley) Besand.
Survivors include two brothers, Gilbert Besand and Kenneth Besand, both of Perryville; two sisters, Mary Lou Kephardt of Kearney and Ruth Basler of Perryville and 10 nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Katherine Sadler and Rosemary Besand.
Mr. Besand was a United States Army veteran of the Korean war. He was a livestock/agriculture farmer, a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, a lifetime member of VFW Post 4282, Perry County Sportsmens Club, AmVets, Elks Lodge, American Leigon Post 133 and bowled for Kohfeld (Stag) for 43 years.

Beverly A. Brewington of Perryville died Wednesday, Oct. 1, 2008 at Ste. Genevieve Memorial Hospital in Ste. Genevieve. She was 65.
She was born March 9, 1943 in St. Louis, the daughter of the late James R. and Velma (Safriet) Austin. She was married March 29, 1979 to Jack Brewington, who preceded her in death on Dec. 12, 2006.
Survivors include two sons, Kevin (Donna) Moran of Perryville and Keith (Brenda) Moran of Ste. Genevieve; one daughter, Kim (Charlie) Runge of Perryville; one step-son, Gregory (Kim) Brewington of Little Rock, Ark.; one step-daughter, Barbara (Don) King of Little Rock, Ark.; 14 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers and one sister.
Mrs. Brewington was a truck driver for Gilster Mary-Lee Corporation. She was of the Baptist faith and was a member of the Eastern Star.

Anton R. “Tony” Ponder of Perryville died Wednesday, Oct. 1, 2008 at Perry County Memorial Hosptial in Perryville. He was 77.
He was born May 13, 1931 in Biehle, the son of the late William and Clara (Trapp) Ponder. He was married May 4, 1957 to Theresa Renner, who preceded him in death on July 4, 2008.  
Survivors include one son, Tim Ponder of Perryville; two brothers, Raymond Ponder of Cape Girardeau and Martin Ponder of House Springs and three sisters, Mary Robinson and Luella Degenhardt, both of Perryville and Antonia Naumann of Blackwell.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, three brothers and two sisters.
Mr. Ponder was a United States Navy veteran serving during the Korean War. He was a plasterer with Hunt’s Plaster, a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, AmVets and the VFW.

Charles D. Shrum
Charles D. Shrum of Blytheville, Ark. died Monday, Sept. 29, 2008 at University of Arkansas Medical Center in Little Rock, Ark. He was 81.
He was born June 30, 1927 in Lixville, the son of the late Clarence E. and Florence S. (Myers) Shrum. He was married Feb. 28, 1948 to Virginia (Fellows) Shrum, who survives.  
Other survivors include one son, Kevin Shrum of San Antonia, Texas; one daughter, Deborah (David) Cartwright of St. Charles; one brother, Leroy Dykes of Erick, Okla.; three grandchildren, Brian Hawkins, Don Cartwright and Matthew Cartwright and one great-grandson, Leo Cartwright.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Mr. Shrum graduated from Perryville High School in 1945 and was in the Navy from 1945-1946. He attended welding school in St. Louis. He was employed by Carter Carburetor in St. Louis for 30 years retiring in 1977. In 1978 they moved to Blytheville, Ark. where he returned to work as a machinist industrial engineer for 10 years with Borg-Warner. Beginning in 1987 he worked as a traveling machinist consultant. His hobbies were drawing, hunting and fishing.
