Quarterback Evan Daugherty ran for three touchdowns and threw for another -- all in the first half -- to lead Perryville (2-0) to a 51-0 victory over St. James in the Pirates' home opener on friday, Sept. 6, 2019.
Coming off a short week of preparation after last week's continued game, the Pirates were already a little beaten up, but it hardly showed as they built a 19-0 lead in the first quarter and went up 32-0 by halftime.
Daugherty's touchdowns came on runs of 57, 7, and 14 yards, and a 32-yard pass to Dawson Camden. He finished with 132 yards rushing on 9 carries and was 1 of 3 passing.
If the first half belonged to Daugherty, the third quarter belonged to Perryville running back Drew Hotop, who scored twice on runs of 8 and 56 yards on back-to-back series and finished with 94 yards on 4 carries.
Deven Lukefahr also scored for the Pirates on a 1-yard run. Caleb Gremaud opened the scoring for the Pirates in the first quarter, capping Perryville's first drive with a short touchdown run.
