The Perryville and St. Vincent girls’ soccer teams each lost a combined one conference game all season, and it was to one another.
So it makes sense that they would have plenty of all-conference award recipients.
It turned out to be true. Perryville had eight players, and St. Vincent five named to the Jefferson County Athletic Association all-conference team when the list was released on May 29.
The two teams combined for 13 of the 31 possible selections for the all-conference teams.
Perryville had three players named to the first team in Leah Buerck, Emma King, and Kirstin Jannin., while Kalli Seabaugh and Sara Kapp were named to the first-team for St. Vincent.
The accolades didn’t stop there for Buerck, who was named the JCAA player of the year.
Buerck broke the school record for goals (39) and overall points (103) this season.
Perryville Coach Jerry Fulton was named coach of the year, after leading Perryville to a undefeated 6-0 mark in conference games.
Th teams combined for five second-team selections as Chloe Bergman, Sydney Spears, and Adrienne Weibrecht made the list for Perryville, while Genevieve Lipe and Anna Schwartz garnered honors for St. Vincent.
Megan Hennemann was named as an honorable mention for the Indians, while Camryn Baer and Jaylen Strattman received the honor for Perryville.
The Pirates set a school record this outscoring conference opponents 43-0 in JCAA games.
